Having grown up and played most of my amateur football here in Ottawa; Blackburn Bengals (now Orleans Bengals), Cairine Wilson High School, University of Ottawa GG’s, and playing for my hometown Renegades, I want to give back to the Ottawa football community by providing an opportunity for local football players to develop and improve their longsnapping skills.
I was first introduced to longsnapping at my first training camp at the University of Ottawa in 1990 by Donn Smith. This led to a successful 10 year career in the CFL. Now returning to football through watching my son play his first season and coaching, I want to give back to the game that shaped who I am today. Special Teams is a vital component of football, one-third of the Canadian game, and having a solid, dependable longsnapper is key in the teams’ success. A large majority of Canadian born players in the CFL and NFL for that matter make their impact on special teams. Mastering this skill can lead to and or prolong one’s football career.
